Phew! I’ve been dealing with server issues for the past 48 hours as I’ve been having some serious problems with my hosting provider. This site is hosted on a shared server over at Lunarpages; I’ve never had any issues at all up to this point, but about 9:00am EST on Thursday morning, I noticed that the MySQL server wasn’t functioning. I called tech support and they assured me it would only be a couple of hours and I should just wait it out…I considered transferring to another server, but that would have taken quite a bit longer than I thought it would take them to resolve the MySQL issue.
From that point things only got worse…about 12pm that same day the entire server went down…nothing was operational. I decided to place another call and was told, once again that they’d have the problem worked out within a few hours…again I opted to just wait it out. In the meantime I wasn’t able to get in and post some kind of notification so sorry if you showed up and found things awry.
I went on to work on some other projects and noticed things were back online a few hours later, so I figured the problem was solved. I didn’t check again until Friday morning at around 6:30am EST and imagine my surprise when I saw that my server was down again!! Or was it still down and had only come back online momentarily when I checked on Thursday? Either way, this was totally unacceptable…my business relies on all of my sites being operational.
After a full day of back and forth with tech support on Friday I decided to have them transfer me to another server. So, it looks like things are back online right now, so hopefully we won’t have any more problems.
Unfortunately, this entire experience has left me feeling less than excited about Lunarpages…in fact, although I’ve never had an issue up to this point, and have had nothing but good things to say about them, this situation was handled so poorly that I’ll be researching new hosts and migrating my sites as soon as I find one that I like. If anyone has any hosting recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
